WWII at Llanyrafon Manor

IMG_1082The recently restored Llanyrafon Manor had a role during the Second World War as a base for Land Girls or members of the Women’s Land Army, who played a key role in the war effort on the home front by taking on roles in agriculture vacated by men who had joined the services.

Events there recreated some of the atmosphere of the war years with period music, food, refreshments, stalls, re-enactments, a showcase of military equipment, artillery, vehicles and memorabilia.

Replica and re-enactment groups such as the Dog Company, and the Welsh Tommies gave demonstrations, and there was a memory room where war veterans and survivors shared their memories.
